The Spiritual ChicksSM Speak Out!
Do you want to know God? Go make some toast.

From a spiritual point of view, the foundation of all life is Spirit---that divine power that is usually described as all-powerful, all-present and all-knowing. From a scientific perspective, all matter is made up of energy---that kick-ass force that is either kinetic (energy in motion) or potential (stored energy). It makes no difference whether we use science or spirituality as our means of understanding the Universe, however, because both perspectives agree that there is raw power at the core of everything. Just as scientists have learned how to harness this power to create nuclear weapons, home appliances, and space shuttles, those of us on the spiritual path can learn to contact and direct Spirit to create the lives we want to live.

It can be interesting to postulate about the nature of the Creator and assign human qualities to God/Goddess, but this pastime is a waste of time if we want to become creators in our own right. Let's think about electricity for a minute. Have scientists ever seen electricity? Talked with electricity? Felt judged by electricity? Prayed to electricity? No they don't and for good reason. They know that it's an impersonal force and they make it work for them. They plug in the refrigerator and wait for the food to get cold. They don't continually doubt the existence of this power; build shrines to it; or confuse the force that powers up the refrigerator for the refrigerator itself. They just keep creating new applications for the power so they can enjoy the fruits of their labor.

Well, fellow spiritual seekers, we can do likewise. If we want more love in our lives, let's turn on the passion. If we want peace, let's switch on harmony and tranquility. If we want abundance, let's plug into wealth. And, if we want to know God, let's create a direct hook up with the Spirit within and tell it what to do. There's no need to meditate, chant or pray if we're not so inclined. Simply look at your divine self in the mirror and then go make some toast. The impersonal power that is electricity will make sure that bread gets brown and crunchy. And that is God at work. Amen.
